We have a long way to go before Nagaland becomes sustainable

Nagaland is working towards effective implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The goals are comprehensively designed to address various social, economic, and environmental challenges. It aimed to create a more sustainable and equitable world by 2030.

Some relevant goals for the State of Nagaland could be analyzed contextually under the following heads.

Poverty Alleviation

SDG 1 is aimed at eradicating extreme poverty. Poverty is so subjective that it cannot be explained universally. However, poverty is visible both in rural and urban in one form or the other. As per the Nagaland Economic Survey 2018-19, an estimated 18.88% live below the poverty line in Nagaland (Morung Express, 18-8-2021). Under the initiative of the Central Government, State Governments, and NGOs, much has been done to alleviate poverty.
