Construction impacts shuttle schedule

The closure of the Queens Bridge connecting Bound Brook and South Bound Brook is having an impact on Somerset County Transportation shuttle schedules. The CAT1R shuttle bus, which serves Franklin, Bound Brook, Somerville, Raritan and Branchburg, and DASH shuttles 851 & 852, serving New Brunswick, Bound Brook and Franklin, rely on the Queens Bridge to maintain a timely route. As a result of the closure, these shuttles are being diverted to Interstate 287, causing anywhere from 15- to 30-minute delays in the schedule. And because each shuttle bus runs its route on a loop, pickups are being delayed throughout the day. The state Department of Transportation estimates that the bridge will be closed for about two months. Call 908-231-7116; visit www.co.somerset.nj.us.
