Nick Saban talks injuries, reviews second Alabama scrimmage

Alabama coach Nick Saban addressed the media Saturday following the team's final scrimmage of fall camp.

Here is a summary of what he said:

-- Saban said the offensive execution was better in this scrimmage than the last. There were also a lot more explosive plays and the quarterbacks played well, according to Saban.

-- Saban said that overall he is pleased with the improvement the team has made but added that there is a lot of work to do.

-- Saban said outside linebacker sophomore Chris Allen suffered a knee injury that requires surgery, and he is likely out for the season.

-- Saban said Alabama is very thin at both inside and outside linebacker.

-- Saban said Tua Tagovailoa's understanding of the offense and his confidence has improved.

-- Asked about the deficiencies that exist in the second- and third-team units, Saban became irritated and said -- with colorful language -- he is concerned and added that everybody expects the team to manufacture players.

-- Saban said the young players in the secondary didn't play well Saturday and that they gave up too many big plays.
