WFP seeks funds for Sudanese refugees in Libya
An average of 2,500 to 3,000 refugees from Sudan are expected to arrive every day in the coming months

The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that Libya requires $18.6 million in funding to meet humanitarian needs through July 2025.
The organisation noted that humanitarian requirements have increased following the arrival of substantial numbers of Sudanese refugees.
UN Refugee Agency data indicates approximately 240,000 Sudanese refugees entered Libya by the end of January, creating additional demands for health services, food assistance and shelter support.
WFP has provided humanitarian aid to more than 70,000 people, including the distribution of 623 tonnes of food. The organisation also distributed $62,580 in cash assistance during January.
To continue operations between February and July, WFP needs to secure an additional $18.6 million in funding.
Of the total amount needed, $13.5 million will support WFP’s programmes aimed at assisting 50,000 refugees monthly throughout 2025, according to the organisation.
