PAPILLION, Neb. -- The alleged abductor of a Beaver Dam teen appeared in court Friday morning.

Gary Day, 40, pleaded not guilty to contributing to the delinquency of minor and providing false name to law enforcement. Day faces a fine of up to a maximum of $100,000 and 25 years imprisonment.

This comes after Day and 17-year-old Sophia Martha Franklin were spotted at Love's Truck Plaza on I-80 in Nebraska. Police said there was a truck and his wife spotted both Franklin and Day.

Sheriff's Greg London of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office said Day's Buick broke down in Idaho and they both hitched a ride with another trucker from Idaho into Sarpy County.

The investigation has been turned over to Homeland Security.

Beaver Dam police told News 3 Now Franklin has been reunited with her family.
