Net Loft Summer Artist Workshop

Artist and instructor Andie Thrams will be hosting two watercolor workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cordova Center. Workshop 1: Watercolor Field Studies “The Colors of Cordova” will be held Aug. 4-5. Workshop 2: Wild Watercolors Intensive is for more experienced artists and will be held Aug. 10-12. St. Joseph’s Rummage Sale

A rummage sale will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11. Donations of gently used clothing, housewares, toys, and books are being accepted, but no electronics. Drop off items downstairs at St. Joseph’s by Friday, Aug. 10.

CAYAC Elite Camp

A basketball camp, Cordova Amateur Youth Athletics Corporation Elite Camp, with Wasatch Academy Coach David Evans, will be held Aug. 13-16 at the Mt. Eccles Gymnasium for 7th-12th grade girls and boys for $50. A basic skills development camp for ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and footwork will be available for 2nd-6th graders for $25. Pick up registration forms at Bidarki Rec Center or sign up on the first day of camp.

Cordova Itinerate Public Health Nurse visit

The Cordova Itinerate Public Health Nurse will be in Cordova from Aug. 13-17 for back-to-school immunizations, well child/developmental screens, STD screens and will have Narcan kits available. To schedule an appointment, call Sue Webb at 907-424-4547 or 907-465-1245.

‘Bloodline’ at Copper River Gallery

Rachel Hoover’s mixed media art exhibit “Bloodline” will be in the Copper River Gallery in the Cordova Museum until Aug. 25, located within the Cordova Center. The Cordova Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Wild Harvest Feast

Help the Copper River Watershed Project celebrate the harvest with a wild foods dinner featuring fall Coho salmon and locally sourced ingredients plus desserts and a silent auction from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Copper River Watershed Project on Main Street. Summer Lunch Art Program

The Cordova Family Resource Center is offering a free summer lunch art program Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to noon for ages 2 to 7 and noon to 1 p.m. for ages 8 to 13. Join them at the CFRC/BIONIC Youth Center on Main Street for art projects and a bag lunch.

Summer Reading Program

Cordova’s Summer Reading Program is at 1 p.m. every Wednesday at The Cordova Public Library. Sign up at the library to enjoy workshops for ages 5 and up.

Al-Anon in Cordova

Al-Anon for friends and family of alcoholics meets 7 p.m. Mondays at the Wellness Center (old DMV office). For more information, contact Katie at 907-965-5909.

Food pantry services

The Little Chapel is administering Salvation Army extension food pantry services. People needing assistance can pick up food on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Little Chapel. In an emergency at other times, call the Little Chapel at 907-424-3629. Native Village of Eyak administers food distribution on behalf of the Food Bank of Alaska.
