The Minister of Public Service, Hon. John Tuhaika Jr had recently attended the prestigious UN Public Service Forum held in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from the 24th to the 26th of June 2024. The Minister participated in a high-profile ministerial discussion panel that addressed a range of critical issues impacting global governance and public service.

The plenary session, titled “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Government,” delved into the role of AI in transforming public service delivery and governance. As the world grapples with intricate and interconnected challenges, the session underscored the necessity of leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance governmental efficiency and responsiveness.

A special focus was placed on the role of young public servants in driving innovation and ensuring a future-ready public sector. The Minister stressed the importance of engaging young people in public service, recognizing their potential to bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to longstanding challenges.

The Hon. Tuhaika (Jr) participation in the forum reaffirmed GNUT commitment to global cooperation, sustainable development, and the integration of advanced technologies in public service. The forum served as a platform for exchanging ideas, forging new partnerships, and reinforcing the collective resolve to achieve the SDGs.

The UN Public Service Forum in Incheon served as a crucial platform for global leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the SDGs and to identify innovative solutions to the pressing challenges facing our world today. As Minister Tuhaika returns from the forum, he is determined to apply the insights gained to further enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of public services in Solomon Islands

Throughout the forum, Minister Tuhaika engaged with counterparts from various countries, sharing insights and experiences on how to effectively implement public service innovations that can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. The Minister also attended bilateral meetings with UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Korean Government aimed at strengthening international cooperation and fostering collaborative efforts in public service delivery.
